The Independent Police Complaints Commission has launched an investigation into Northumbria Police’s reaction to the warnings from officials at Durham Prison.
It will also look into the use of Tasers during the stand-off which eventually led to Moat’s death.
Police officers were trying to sneak up behind Moat as officers tried to distract him from the front, it’s alleged that Moat heard a noise and panicked, Moat shouted at police after they had fired at him with two shotgun powered Taser stun guns. The police claim that it was a desperate attempt to bring an end the seven day manhunt without any further casualties. A second later a gunshot was heard and Raoul Moat was fighting for his life, reports claim he had blown the front of his face off. Raoul Moat was pronounced dead at 2:20 am.
A friend claimed “Moat would have ended it earlier if that was his intentions; I believe that he would have given himself up, the police had started to gain his trust until he was shot at with a Taser. Lots of stuff printed in the press simply isn’t true. If he really wanted to die he would have fired at the police and he did not”.
Why did the police decided to sneak up on Moat when he wasn’t putting anyone under any further risk?, it was only a couple of hours earlier that police said we have Moat contained and we will give him all the time he needs, we want to end this incident peacefully.

NO !! Raoul Did Not have To Die . im Not So Sure He Wanted To either . Why Would He Just Give Up After 6 Hours ?? If The Police Hadnt used Tazers And Tried To Wrestle Him To The Ground Then It Wouldnt have Happened . If They Had Just Let His Uncle In Then Maybe He Would Still be Here Today ? Maybe His Children Would Have A Father . Maybe He Could Have Got The Help that He So Desperatly Needed . I Don’t Condone What he Has Done But Things Get To People In Different Ways . He Was Pushed To far . The Police Did Not Handle This in The Way The Public Wanted Them To . Because Of them Another Mother Has Lost Her Son And daughter lost Her Dad . northumbria Police Are ypocrits Hes A Killer ?? Look At Yourselfs . Now The Question is Are They Going To get Punished For What They Did Or Because They Are “Protecting” The Community is It Going To be Brushed Under The Table And Never Spoke About again ? Rest In peace Raoul Moat And Chris Brown . And My Thoughts Are With the Families .
i think the police were wrong to taser a guy with a gun theres gna be a coverup of what happened as they shot him to kill and they know it
Seriously. Who cares. The sad sack got what he deserved. The world is better off without the likes of him. I wouldn’t have blamed the police if they shot him on sight. They can’t wait around forever for him to make up his mind
